Senior Cardiologist Dr. Om Murti Anil, veteran artiste Haribansa Acharya honored



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police Wives Association celebrated its 41st anniversary on Wednesday with a series of commemorative programs that highlighted the organization’s commitment to social service and community welfare.

As part of the celebrations, the Association honored several distinguished individuals for their notable contributions to society. Among them were senior cardiologist Dr. Om Murti Anil and renowned artiste Haribansa Acharya.

Dr. Om Murti Anil was recognized for his enduring contributions to the health sector. For over a decade, he has actively provided free cardiac care through health camps across the country, benefiting thousands.

He has also been instrumental in raising public awareness about heart disease prevention, emphasizing lifestyle changes and early detection. Beyond his medical practice, Dr. Anil has participated in various social initiatives, reflecting his deep commitment to public health and community well-being.

Haribansa Acharya was honored for his outstanding contributions to Nepali cinema and theatre. A widely respected actor, he has consistently used his platform to address social issues, raise awareness on sensitive topics, and promote values that foster a better society.

Inspector General of Nepal Police Dipak Thapa presented the honors, which also included recognition of social worker Uttam Pudasaini and Ram Bahadur Neupane for their service to the community.

Speaking at the event, IGP Thapa praised the Association’s dedication to humanitarian work, despite limited resources, and emphasized the importance of continuing such efforts with selflessness and commitment.

Rupa Thapa, Chairperson of the Association, along with other speakers, also addressed the gathering, reaffirming the organization’s ongoing efforts in philanthropy and community upliftment.
