CPN-UML Central Committee meeting to begin today

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML’s Central Committee is scheduled to convene at 11 AM today (Monday) at the party’s central headquarters in Chyasal, Lalitpur.

Rajendra Gautam, head of the UML’s Publicity Department, stated that the meeting will cover several major topics, including a proposal to amend the party’s statute, organizational updates, and preparations for the upcoming statute convention.

The amendment proposal—already approved by the party’s Secretariat and Politburo—will be officially presented and debated during the session.

Among the proposed changes are the elimination of the age limit of 70 years and the restriction of serving only two terms in executive roles.

The amendment also outlines a new three-layer party structure: the Standing Committee, Politburo, and Central Committee, with the latter expected to comprise 357 members.

According to Gautam, the Central Committee meeting will span two days, continuing through Monday and Tuesday.
