Public Accounts Committee to discuss Pokhara Airport corruption report today

KATHMANDU: The Public Accounts Committee under the House of Representatives is scheduled to meet today at 1 pm at Singha Durbar.

The meeting will focus on deliberating the report prepared by the subcommittee formed to study the construction of the Pokhara Regional International Airport.

During the last committee meeting held on May 4, the report, prepared under the leadership of MP Rajendra Lingden, was distributed to lawmakers for review. The subcommittee has alleged that over Rs 10 billion in corruption occurred during the airport’s construction.

The report states that while the airport was initially estimated to cost Rs 14 billion, it was eventually built at a cost of Rs 22 billion, indicating direct financial irregularities. Today’s session is expected to see detailed discussions on the findings and implications of this high-profile case.
