KATHMANDU: A school principal returning from Kathmandu to Manang after participating in the teachers’ protest in the capital has died in an accident.
Principal Man Ghale lost his life when a scooter and a microbus collided in Nepaltar, Bhanu Municipality-1, Tanahun, while he was on his way back from the protest.
DSP Ashok Thapa of the District Police Office, Tanahun, confirmed the incident. Ghale was the principal of Janvikas Basic School in Nasong.
The collision occurred in Kalimati, Ward No. 10, Bhanu Municipality, Tanahun, on the Dumre-Besisahar section.
Anita Thapa Shrestha, 32, from Besisahar, Lamjung, who was riding the scooter, died at the scene.
Ghale, 40, from Nasong Rural Municipality-8, Manang, succumbed to his injuries at HDCS Namuna Community Hospital, Sundar Bazaar, during treatment.
The accident involved a microbus (Ba 2 Kha 4022) traveling from Kathmandu to Besisahar and a scooter (Ga 26 Pa 4058) heading from Besisahar to Dumre.
