Thousands rally behind MP Gyanu Basnet’s call to dismiss Energy Minister

KATHMANDU: Thousands of people have expressed their support for MP Gyanu Basnet’s demand to dismiss Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka from his post.

Speaking at the House of Representatives on Thursday, MP Basnet accused Minister Khadka of instilling fear among the public by spreading misinformation about load shedding.

She further alleged that the minister played a significant role in undermining the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) led by Kulman Ghising, which had been instrumental in eliminating power cuts in the country.

“Minister Khadka has terrorized the people by claiming that load shedding is happening again. This is unacceptable, and I demand his immediate dismissal,” MP Basnet said during the parliamentary session.

Following her statement, Khabarhub, sought public feedback on the issue through its social media platform.

As of 12 noon on Friday, more than 7,500 people had responded to the poll on Facebook, with over 99 percent of respondents expressing their support for MP Basnet’s demand.

The overwhelming public response reflects growing frustration among citizens, who see the current minister’s actions as a step backward in maintaining Nepal’s hard-earned power stability.
