‘Dear Trump, thank you for making us feel our country is better’: Balen Shah

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balen Shah has expressed his gratitude to US President Donald Trump for making Nepali citizens feel that their country is better.

In response to Trump’s remarks about fraud in US aid to Nepal, Mayor Shah took to social media to thank the US president.

Shah remarked that Trump’s comments made Nepalis realize that their country is superior.

He also suggested that Americans should understand that lazy people in their own country have led to its struggles, and that the rest of the world is essential for their progress.

Shah wrote: “Dear Donald J. Trump,

Thank you for making us realise our country is better than yours. We are poor because our people are leaving our country.

You are poor that your people cannot build your country; you lazy people need rest of the world for it. Please stop your lust (DV) slavery as well; we shall get our gems back. Ban rest of the world from your country, and let the world grow.”

Additionally, Mayor Shah called for the closure of the Diversity Visa (DV) program, arguing that it should be banned to provide opportunities for others around the world to move forward.
