No exports from 10 out of 28 customs points in Nepal



KATHMANDU: Ten out of Nepal’s 28 operational customs points for international trade has recorded zero exports in the first six months of the current fiscal year.

According to the Department of Customs, no goods were exported through customs points such as Tatopani, Sunauli, Sunsari, Janakpur, Chobhar, Sati, Maheshpur, Rajbiraj, Gautam Buddha International Airport, Thadi, and Triveni during the review period.

While exports were non-existent, Tatopani customs accounted for 3.05% of the total imports. Other customs points with zero exports saw less than 1% of total imports.

Highest imports from Birgunj, lowest from Pashupatinagar

The Department of Customs data indicates that Birgunj customs handled the highest imports during the review period, with goods worth Rs 275.7 billion, making up 33.53% of the total imports.

Similarly, Bhairahawa customs recorded the second-highest imports at Rs 123.95 billion, followed by the Dry Port customs with imports worth Rs 103.88 billion. Imports through other customs points amounted to less than Rs 100 billion each.
