NEW YORK:  Donald Trump, sworn in as the 47th President of the United States,  has made significant decisions on his first day in office.

Amid thousands of supporters, Trump announced his second-term priorities, including withdrawing the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement. With this decision, the U.S. joins countries like Iran, Libya, and Yemen in distancing itself from the accord.

Trump also has declared a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border, emphasizing his commitment to securing the nation.

According to the BBC, President Donald Trump announced that the process to repatriate individuals residing in the United States illegally will commence.

When newly elected President Trump arrived at the White House, he was welcomed by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.

Trump arrived at the White House with his wife, Melania. Both presidents, along with their spouses, attended the oath-taking ceremony held at the Capitol Rotunda.

Calling his presidency the beginning of a “golden era” for America, Trump addressed a crowd that included global leaders and former U.S. presidents. On his inauguration day, he also dismissed the head of the Department of Justice, signaling his intent to make bold administrative changes.
