Draft of 10-point agreement prepared for unification between NCP and JSP

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and the Ashok Rai–led Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) have prepared a draft of a 10-point agreement as part of their efforts toward unification.

The draft was prepared during a meeting between negotiation teams from both parties on Thursday at the NCP central office. NCP leader Prakash Jwala, who was present at the meeting, said the document will be finalized on Friday after incorporating suggestions received today.

After final adjustments, the draft will be submitted to a joint meeting of the negotiation teams with NCP Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal, and JSP Chair Ashok Rai, where the final decision on party unification will be made.

Both parties have agreed to adopt socialism with Nepali characteristics as the guiding direction for the next phase of political transformation. The JSP has also agreed to accept Marxism and Leninism as guiding ideological principles. The parties have further agreed that the organizational structure of the unified party will follow the principle of democratic centralism.
