KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has endorsed a nine-point decision prioritizing preparations for the upcoming House of Representatives elections on March 5, 2026, organizational strengthening, and greater political involvement of the Gen-Z generation.
A Central Committee meeting held on Thursday instructed a high-level dialogue committee, coordinated by Vice-Chair Dr. Swarnim Wagle, to intensify discussions with “cultured and reform-oriented political forces” for potential issue-based and organizational collaboration. The directive aims to institutionalize the political atmosphere shaped by the nationwide Gen-Z movement.
The meeting was also briefed on the legal status of the case filed against RSP President Rabi Lamichhane by the previous government.
The committee passed the political report presented by Acting Chair Dol Prasad Aryal, the organizational report by General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti, and the candidate-selection report submitted by Joint General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya.
Acharya has been appointed coordinator of the candidate selection committee for the upcoming elections. The committee will also include Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, Dr. Chanda Karki, Rajan Gautam, and the party’s provincial presidents. The meeting decided to retain the previously selected candidate for Rupandehi-3.
The party has added Krantishikha Dhital to its manifesto drafting task force. Likewise, the Constitution Amendment Task Force has been renamed the “Constitution and Constitution-Related Law Amendment Task Force,” with Sobita Gautam appointed as coordinator.
The party has formed three election-focused study and strategy task forces. The political study team will be led by Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, the election strategy task force will be coordinated by Manish Jha, and the media study task force will be led by Nisha Dangi.
Acknowledging the growing political consciousness among youth and the active involvement of the Gen-Z generation, the RSP has announced the launch of a Youth Nation Building Academy, spokesperson Jha said. The program, to be operated under the party’s Law and Human Rights Department, aims to provide training on leadership development, constitutional structures, public expression and parliamentary procedures.
The meeting also decided to hold expanded election-focused gatherings across all provinces and districts, fill vacant positions based on inclusion principles, and conduct nationwide interaction programs with Gen-Z youth.
