PM Karki calls for unity and resolve to build new Nepal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Sushila Karki has called for national unity and determination to achieve the shared aspirations of peace, prosperity, and good governance.

Extending his best wishes to all Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasions of Tihar, Mha Puja, Nepal Sambat 1146, Chhath, and other festivals, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of collective resolve in building a brighter future for the nation.

“It is in our cultural roots to unite during challenging times,” the Prime Minister’s message states. “Let us not fall into confusion—let us come together to overcome despair and darkness, and work toward creating a brighter future for a new Nepal.”

In his message, Prime Minister Karki reaffirmed his commitment to creating a conducive environment for elections within six months, promising a stable government. He noted that progress is being made in political dialogue and improving the overall security situation.

“Our foremost responsibility is to hold elections in a clean, fair, and fearless environment on March 5, 2026,” the statement reads. “We are committed to promoting good governance, taking decisive action against corruption, and conducting impartial investigations into the suppression and violence during the Gen-Z movement.”

The Prime Minister highlighted that the changes underway this year reflect the deep aspirations and renewed responsibilities brought about by the transformative Gen-Z movement. “Honoring the trust placed in us by the people, the government is firmly committed to a path of inclusive, transparent, and accountable governance. We have laid the groundwork for the good governance and development envisioned by Gen-Z.”

Concluding the message, the Prime Minister said that Tihar, the festival of lights, symbolizes hope, faith, and prosperity, celebrating the triumph of light over darkness, hope over despair, and justice over injustice.
