Speaker meets Pakistani parliamentary delegation in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House, Dev Raj Ghimire, held a courtesy meeting with a Pakistani parliamentary delegation on Wednesday at Singha Durbar.

The delegation, led by Pakistani lawmaker Munaza Hasan, was in Nepal to participate in the Hindu Kush Himalaya Parliamentarians Meet–2025.

During the meeting, Speaker Ghimire welcomed the delegation and discussed the friendly ties between Nepal and Pakistan, as well as opportunities for regional cooperation. She emphasized the need to address climate change, sustainable development, and the challenges faced by mountain communities as shared parliamentary agendas.

Ghimire also highlighted potential areas of collaboration in trade, connectivity, and tourism between the two countries, suggesting that parliamentary cooperation could play a key role.

In response, Hasan expressed gratitude for Nepal’s successful hosting of the Hindu Kush Himalaya Parliamentarians Meet–2025 and praised Nepal’s efforts in mitigating climate change impacts and conserving the mountain ecosystem.
