Nepal to face India in SAFF U-17 Women’s Championship opener

KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on India today in their opening match of the SAFF U-17 Women’s Championship, which kicks off in Thimphu, Bhutan.

The game is scheduled to begin at 2:45 PM Nepal time, with Nepal aiming for a winning start in the regional tournament.

This year’s championship, running until September 1, features four teams, host Bhutan, Nepal, India, and Bangladesh.

Each side will play two matches against every opponent, and the team finishing on top of the standings will be crowned champions.

Nepal, who lifted the title in 2022, will face Bhutan on August 22 and 31, while matches against Bangladesh are set for August 24 and 27. The second fixture against India is scheduled for August 29.

The Nepali squad arrived in Bhutan on Monday to prepare for the competition.
