Marking poles and signposts installed at 53 locations along Manaslu trekking route

GORKHA: To help tourists navigate the Manaslu Conservation Area in northern Gorkha, the Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) has installed marking poles and signposts at 53 different locations along the trekking route.

According to Santosh Sherchan, Chief of the MCAP Office, the installations were carried out during the fiscal year 2081/82. A total of 35 signposts have been added to provide information on the route, while 16 new marking poles have been installed to guide trekkers along the trail.

Marking poles were installed at various locations from Larke Bazaar to Bhimthang via the Nubri Valley. With the addition, the total number of marking poles along this section has reached 124, up from the previous 108.

Similarly, 19 signposts were installed on the Chum Valley trekking route (including the trail toward Ganesh Himal), 14 in Nubri Valley, and two in Sirdibas.

“These signposts will help tourists identify their current location, elevation, estimated time to the next destination, and potential wildlife in the area,” said Sherchan. “Likewise, the marking poles will be especially useful during snowfall when the trail gets covered with snow.”

MCAP has also announced plans to install additional signposts and marking poles at 25 more locations during the current fiscal year 2024/25.
