Landslides block two under-construction roads in Dhankuta

DHANKUTA: Two under-construction road sections in Dhankuta have been blocked due to landslides triggered by continuous rainfall.

According to police, a landslide struck the Rabi–Rank–Bhedetar road section near Lumphakung in Pasanguri Gadhi Rural Municipality-5 on Sunday morning, bringing traffic to a complete halt.

The slide, originating from a slope above the road, has rendered the route impassable. A team from the Danda Bazar Police Post has been deployed to the site to assess and support clearance efforts.

In a separate incident, vehicular movement along the Tamor Corridor in Chaubise Rural Municipality-4 has been disrupted due to flooding in the Chharuwa River.

Police reported that rising water levels have made it impossible for vehicles to cross in either direction. A police team from Falametar has been dispatched to monitor the situation.

Authorities have urged caution as heavy rains continue to pose risks in the region.
