600 Nepalis register to return home from Israel

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that over 600 Nepali citizens have registered to return home from Israel amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.

The Ministry had launched an online portal to collect details of Nepalis wishing to return due to rising security concerns. “More than 600 individuals have registered their information so far, and the process is still ongoing,” the Ministry said in a statement.

Last Wednesday, the Ministry issued a second travel advisory, urging Nepali citizens currently in Israel and Iran to remain extremely cautious and avoid traveling to Israel or other Middle Eastern countries from Nepal.

During a joint meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday—with participation from the Ministries of Labor, Employment and Social Security; Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation; and Home Affairs—Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana stated that the government is prepared to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of Nepali citizens in Israel and Iran.

She confirmed that preparations are underway to rescue those who wish to return home.
