Party merger to proceed only after talks between Resham Chaudhary and CK Raut: Ranjita Shrestha

KATHMANDU: Nagarik Unmukti Party Chairperson Ranjita Shrestha said that the party unification process between her party and the Janamat Party will move forward only after a formal discussion between party founder Resham Chaudhary and Janamat Party Chair CK Raut.

Speaking to reporters at the Federal Parliament building in New Baneshwar on Tuesday, Shrestha stated that the two leaders have been occupied with their respective party activities, which has delayed the planned discussions.

“There is no disagreement between the parties regarding unification,” she said, “but the process can only proceed after the two leaders meet and hold talks.”

Shrestha also clarified that there had already been an agreement in principle on the leadership structure following the unification: Resham Chaudhary would take the role of patron, CK Raut would be the chairperson, and she herself would serve as co-chair.

She further mentioned that the delay in the unification process was also due to the arrest of Resham Chaudhary on April 30 and her own health issues during the same period.
