EU delegation brings ambassadors from New Delhi to Kathmandu for strategic dialogue

KATHMANDU: The European Union (EU) Delegation to Nepal has brought together ambassadors and representatives based in New Delhi to Kathmandu for a high-level briefing and engagement visit.

According to the EU Delegation in Nepal, the three-day visit aims to provide the diplomats with a comprehensive overview of Nepal’s political, social, and economic landscape.

The focus will also include the impacts of climate change, prospects for green growth, governance, innovation, and inclusive development.

The delegation includes EU ambassadors and representatives currently posted in New Delhi, as well as EU’s residential envoy to Nepal.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the EU Delegation said the visit is designed to help diplomatic officials better understand Nepal’s development priorities and identify key areas for future collaboration and support.

During their stay, the diplomats are scheduled to meet with Nepal’s Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs to discuss the country’s domestic and foreign policy priorities. The delegation will also hold separate interactions with members of civil society, private sector leaders, and media representatives.

As part of the visit, the team will tour the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to learn about the nation’s energy initiatives and achievements. The group is also scheduled to visit cultural and historical landmarks in Patan and Bhaktapur.
