Nepal wins second warm up game thanks to centuries from Airee and Sharki

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s national cricket team has secured its second straight victory in the UK as part of its preparations for the ICC World Cup League 2.

In a dominant performance, Nepal defeated the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) by 124 runs.

Nepal posted a commanding total of 335 for 4 in the allotted 50 overs, powered by centuries from Dipendra Singh Airee and Bhim Sharki.

Airee smashed 110 runs off just 67 balls, hitting 12 fours and 4 sixes, while Sharki scored 104 off 90 deliveries with 10 fours and 2 sixes. Both players retired out after reaching their respective hundreds.

Earlier in the innings, opener Anil Sah was dismissed for 27, while Basir Ahmed remained unbeaten on 37 and Karan KC on 16.

In response, MCC struggled to build partnerships, eventually being bowled out for 212 in 35.3 overs. Nepal’s bowlers maintained tight control, preventing MCC from gaining momentum.

This win follows Nepal’s first practice match victory against Cardiff’s New Port, where they chased down a target of 213 with three wickets in hand.

In that match, Aarif Sheikh and Gulshan Jha led the run chase with impressive half-centuries. Jha scored a team-high 80 runs, while Sheikh remained unbeaten on 73. The duo shared a 134-run partnership for the seventh wicket.

Nepal is scheduled to play one more practice match in the UK before heading into their ICC World Cup League 2 fixtures.
