RPP Chair Rajendra Lingden taken into police custody

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has been taken into police custody.

Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi was also taken into police custody.

Lingden was detained by police from Singha Durbar, the government administrative complex, amid the party’s ongoing protest program.

Police arrested Lingden and other leaders from inside Singha Durbar, who were protesting for the release of leaders and cadres arrested during the protest held in Tinkune on March 28.

Earlier today, RPP leaders and cadres had marched toward New Baneshwor, entering the restricted zone while staging a symbolic protest against what they called “government authoritarianism.”
