RPP protest in restricted area

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) staged a demonstration on Sunday afternoon, marching from Maitighar to the restricted zone in New Baneshwor, demanding the reinstatement of monarchy.

RPP cadres began their protest at Bijuli Bazaar, gathered at Archbridge Bridge, and proceeded toward Baneshwor via Everest Hotel.

RPP supporters protest near the restricted area in New Baneshwor.

Upon reaching the restricted area, they raised slogans demanding a king and criticized leaders of major political parties.

“This is a symbolic and peaceful protest against the government’s growing authoritarianism,” said RPP Chair Rajendra Lingden, who led the procession. He claimed the protest was meant to challenge the narrative that limits political alternatives and suppresses dissent.

Despite security presence, RPP supporters managed to enter the prohibited zone and continued chanting slogans. Police have been deployed in large numbers near the Parliament building to prevent escalation.
