Kathmandu records 5.5°C at 5:45 AM as temperatures continue to drop

KATHMANDU: As winter conditions intensify, temperatures have continued to drop across the country, including the Kathmandu Valley.

According to the Weather Forecast Division, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley was recorded at 5.5 degrees Celsius at 5:45 AM today (Friday). However, this reading is only a preliminary observation.

The official minimum temperature for the day is measured again at 8:45 AM, and it may be lower than the earlier reading.

A similar pattern was observed yesterday (Thursday). The minimum temperature was 5.5 degrees Celsius at 5:45 AM, but it dropped further to 5.3 degrees Celsius at 8:45 AM.

The lowest temperature recorded during this period is considered the official minimum temperature for the day.

Meteorologists explain that cloudy skies at night tend to keep temperatures higher in the morning, while clear skies allow temperatures to drop further.

The Division records daily minimum and maximum temperatures across the country, including Kathmandu. The minimum temperature is measured at 8:45 AM, while the maximum temperature is measured at 5:45 PM.
