Govt to recommend Constitutional Council amendment ordinance to President



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to recommend the issuance of an ordinance amending the Constitutional Council to the President.

Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel, announcing the Cabinet decision made on November 18, said the ordinance pertains to the “Constitutional Council (Duties, Responsibilities, Powers, and Procedures) (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2025.”

The Cabinet also approved the formation of a negotiation team, led by the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, to engage with the World Bank regarding a proposed concessional loan of 95 million dollars for sustainable and inclusive projects. In addition, the Cabinet granted principle approval for drafting the Water and Meteorology Bill.

Minister Kharel added that Law Minister Anil Kumar Sinha has been approved to attend the oath-taking ceremony of India’s newly appointed Chief Justice on November 24 and the Constitution Day program on November 26, both held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, India.

The Cabinet further approved the Armed Police Force (Fourth Amendment) Regulations and sanctioned the organizational structure and staffing of the Armed Police Force Nepal. It also decided to allow vehicles with environmentally friendly or energy-efficient fuel system modifications a three-year exemption to implement such changes.
