Unapologetic UML leaders vow to rise again

KATHMANDU: Senior Vice Chair of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), Ishwar Pokharel, said that the party is committed to steering the country in the right direction despite current challenges.

Speaking at a program organized at the UML central office on the occasion of Constitution Day on Friday, Pokharel highlighted that the party’s resolve remains unshaken even after its office was reduced to ashes during the recent Gen-Z protests.

“UML has reached its current position not by drifting aimlessly like a boat on a calm pond, but by confronting challenges in every era,” Pokharel said.

He said the party would confront the present difficulties head-on and continue to move forward. Pokharel also cautioned that failing to act in time could risk losing hard-earned achievements, urging vigilance to protect the party’s accomplishments.

UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel also commented on the Gen-Z protests, describing attacks on political party offices as a well-planned conspiracy aimed at weakening democracy. He criticized the targeting of party leaders and the destruction of personal property, asserting that some young infiltrators acted with the intention of undermining democratic institutions.

Shankar Pokharel further stressed that Nepal’s constitution grants sovereignty to its citizens and that this achievement should be a source of pride. He assured that a party rooted in correct principles would never be weakened and confidently claimed that UML would rise again.
