EU Ambassadors call on Minister Dr Rana



KATHMANDU: Ambassadors of EU member countries in Kathmandu and the Non-Resident Ambassadors and Heads of Mission based in New Delhi to Nepal, met with Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba today.

During the meeting held at the MoFA today, matters related to consolidating relations between Nepal and the European Union and its member countries and promoting mutual interests and common concerns on various issues, including climate change were discussed, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the occasion, Dr Rana expressed her gratitude for the continued support of the European Union and its member countries in the economic and social sectors of Nepal, and their participation in the recently concluded “Sagarmatha Sambaad” held in Kathmandu from May 16 to 18.

She also urged the EU member countries to support Nepal’s efforts in tackling the impacts of climate change and its advocacy for climate justice at international forums.
Rana requested them to encourage their countries’ private sectors to invest in Nepal in sectors including tourism, agriculture, infrastructure construction, and information technology.

Additionally, she sought assistances in Nepal’s efforts to graduate from a Least Developed Country to a developing nation by 2026.

The meetings were attended by 20 heads of mission and EU’s ambassadors as well as its member states in Kathmandu and New Delhi, adds the Ministry in a press statement issued here this afternoon.
