Attempts to fish in murky water will be foiled, says Prachanda

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the attempts being made to fish in murky water will be foiled.

Referring to the activities of the pro-monarchists in the country in the recent weeks, Prachanda said the conspiracies and audacities of the regressive forces would be defeated.

Addressing a rally organized by Newa: Rastriya Mukti Morcha at Basantapur in Kathmandu today, the Maoist Centre Chair praised the roles played by the Newar community in Nepal’s democratic movements.

On the occasion, the Maoist Centre Chair said that his party has not completely abandoned its agendas though some issues were compromised due to different reasons in the time of constitution promulgation.

Likewise, he said that the history, language, culture and production of the Newar community carry the embryo of socialism in Nepal adding that it has the features of socialism with Nepali characteristics.

“The journey to socialism with Nepali characteristics could be embarked only from the study of history of the Newar community,” Prachanda stated.

The Maoist Centre Chair also shared that he had to struggle a lot during his premiership to address some of the demands of the Newar community.

“Declaration of Nepal Sambat as the National Sambat was declared under my leadership. The decision to bring Nepal Bhasa as the official language was made,” he stated.

Likewise, Prachanda vowed to play roles to preserve the culture, language and history of the Newar community and to ensure this community’s right to self-determination.
