This government will not topple, UML gen secy Pokhrel

DHANKUTA: CPN (UML) general secretary Shankar Pokhrel has argued that the current coalition government will not topple just by the wishes of opponents adding that the government was formed as per the people’s mandate and the country’s necessity.

Inaugurating the CPN (UML) Dhankuta district committee’s three-month grassroots-focused campaign on Sunday, Pokhrel said that the current government was formed to end the message that government cannot be formed in the country without the support from the fringe political parties.

Saying that the current coalition of the UML and Nepali Congress will continue further, Pokhrel said the alliance was made considering the presence of political parties in the federal parliament.

He argued that the UML-CPN (Maoist Centre) alliance was dismantled as the latter with 32 seats in parliament boasted of being powerful than the UML and NC.

Pokhrel said that stability of the current government was likely also to end arrogance of the fringe parties and to respect the verdict of the people for being the NC and UML as the major political forces in the parliament based on their representation.

On the occasion, Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Karki, former ministers Rajendra Kumar Rai and Sherdhan Rai and others shared their views on the party’s grassroots campaign.
