Petition filed in Supreme Court seeking cancellation of government-Gen-Z agreement

KATHMANDU: A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court demanding the cancellation of the agreement signed between the government and representatives of the Gen-Z movement.

The petitioners, comprising several lawyers and law students, claim that the government, which was mandated to conduct elections, entered into an agreement with far-reaching implications. They argue that the deal exceeds constitutional limits and could push the country into chaos and instability.

According to the petition, the agreement allegedly violates constitutional provisions and certain legislative acts. The petitioners have requested the court to declare the agreement, which was also published in the gazette, as unconstitutional and nullify it.

The preliminary hearing on the petition is scheduled for Friday at the Supreme Court.
