UML General Convention voting concludes with 2,227 votes cast



KATHMANDU: Voting at the 11th General Convention of the CPN-UML, which began on Wednesday morning, has been completed. Of the total 2,263 delegates eligible to vote, 36 were absent, resulting in 2,227 votes being cast.

UML Central Election Commission Vice-Chairman Sanuraj Pokharel said the results are expected to be announced within a few hours, as the voting was conducted electronically.

The voting process progressed slowly throughout the day. KP Sharma Oli and Ishwor Pokharel are contesting as a panel in the general convention. A total of around 642 candidates are competing for 19 office-bearer positions and 301 seats on the party’s central committee.
