Home Minister tells Nepal Police to remain dedicated amid post-protest challenges

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal on Thursday visited the Nepal Police Headquarters to assess damages caused during last month’s Gen-Z protests and directed police personnel to remain dedicated to the nation and people with high morale.

During the visit, Minister Aryal acknowledged the destruction faced by several police units and praised communities for their support in restoring operations.

“The sympathy and cooperation shown by the community during this difficult time has reaffirmed the importance of Nepal Police. You must continue to work with high morale in the interest of the people,” he said.

He instructed the police to correct shortcomings within the organization and move forward in line with the law. “The government believes you will perform your duties with integrity and restraint. This government stands firmly in support of a highly motivated police force,” Aryal added.

Before his briefing at police headquarters, the Home Minister conducted field inspections of damages at Kathmandu Valley Police Office in Ranipokhari, as well as police circles in Durbar Marg and Maharajgunj.

The virtual briefing was attended by chiefs of all seven provincial police offices, along with district and area police office heads.

The Gen-Z protests of September 8 and 9 resulted in widespread destruction across government institutions and security offices nationwide, leaving dozens of police units damaged or destroyed.
