Securing Bipin Joshi’s release is govt’s top priority: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that ensuring the swift release of Bipin Joshi, the Nepali youth held hostage by the Hamas group, is the government’s responsibility.

In a statement shared via Facebook today, PM Oli said the government is giving top priority to Joshi’s safety and is making every possible effort to secure his freedom.

The Prime Minister noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been holding continuous dialogue through Nepali embassies in the Gulf region to ensure Joshi’s safe and early release.

Highlighting the efforts made by Joshi’s family, PM Oli said that his mother, Padma, and sister, Pushpa, met Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Speaker of the Knesset Amir Ohana with the support of the Nepali Embassy in Israel, urging them to take steps for Joshi’s release. He reaffirmed that the government stands firmly with the family.

PM Oli also recalled his earlier conversations with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on March 20 and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on March 12, where he raised the issue of Joshi’s release. Both leaders are actively involved in peace efforts in the Middle East.

Expressing gratitude, the Prime Minister extended special thanks to Nepali citizens, local communities, journalists, security personnel, and social activists in Israel who have been providing assistance in the ongoing efforts.
