Five major highways blocked, three operating one-way due to heavy rainfall

KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall across various parts of the country has led to the obstruction of five major highways, while three highways are operating in a one-way manner, according to Nepal Police Headquarters.

In Bagmati Province, the Araniko Highway has been completely blocked at multiple points in Sindhupalchok district—specifically in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2 Kodari, Ward-3 Larcha, and Ward-2 Koplad.

Similarly, the Bheri Corridor in Tripurasundari Municipality-1, Dolpa district of Karnali Province, and the Gokuleshwar–Khalanga section of the highway in Mahakali Municipality-5, Darchula district of Sudurpaschim Province, have also been blocked.

Meanwhile, three other key roads affected by the rain are now partially operational, allowing one-way traffic. These include the Jumla–Mugu road in Jumla district, the Kaligandaki Corridor in Gulmi district, and the Ravi–Rake–Bhedetar road in Dhankuta district.
