PM Oli and former President Bhandari hold meeting

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli met with former President Bidya Devi Bhandari at his official residence in Baluwatar last evening.

According to sources, the meeting lasted for over an hour. Bhandari, who served two terms as President with Oli’s backing, reportedly briefed the Prime Minister on her recent visit to China. The two also discussed current political developments.

The meeting is being seen as significant, especially given recent public speculation about growing tensions between the two leaders.

Observers have noted that their relationship, once seen as politically aligned, has reportedly cooled in recent months.

According to party insiders, Oli has grown wary of Bhandari following her increased political engagement within the UML and rumored ambitions to assume a leadership role in the party, possibly even eyeing the party presidency.
