RPP accuses government of being autocratic



KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Roshan Karki has accused the government and the Home Ministry of becoming increasingly autocratic and bureaucratically insular.

Speaking during a special session of the House of Representatives on Sunday, MP Karki criticized the government’s approach to governance, saying, “This government is becoming autocratic. The Home Ministry is acting like a separate entity altogether.”

She expressed frustration over the lack of seriousness in Parliament, saying, “After entering Parliament, I realized this is a place for deceit and surrendering one’s self-respect. There is no place as dull and unresponsive as this. People speak, but no one listens.”

Karki also questioned whether Article 270 of the Constitution has been suspended, referring to recent arrests over social media posts.

She further remarked on the indifference of parliamentary proceedings, asking how the Speaker would feel seeing lawmakers sleeping and ministers playing video games during sessions.
