Achyut Wagle takes oath as Vice-Chancellor of Kathmandu University



KATHMANDU: Prof. Dr. Achyut Prasad Wagle has taken the oath of office and secrecy as the Vice-Chancellor of Kathmandu University.

The oath-taking ceremony was held today at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar, where Prime Minister and Chancellor KP Sharma Oli administered the oath.

Dr. Wagle was appointed Vice-Chancellor on Monday from among three candidates recommended by the Search and Recommendation Committee formed under Section 13 (4) of the University Act, 2048 BS.

The event was attended by Minister for Education, Science and Technology Bidya Bhattarai, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Chief Secretary to the Government of Nepal Ek Narayan Aryal, and Secretary to the Ministry of Education Dr. Deepak Kafle, among others.

During the program, Prime Minister Oli expressed hope that the university’s leadership would move forward with vigilance, given the context of the delay in appointing the Vice-Chancellor.

Prof. Dr. Wagle, who had been serving as the Acting Vice-Chancellor and Registrar of the university, pledged to fulfill his responsibilities with dedication and commitment.
