KATHMANDU: Deepak Thapa has been formally awarded the rank insignia as the 31st Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Nepal Police at a special ceremony organized at the Ministry of Home Affairs today.

Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi presented the insignia to IGP Thapa, following his appointment confirmed by the Cabinet in a meeting held on Monday evening.

Upon receiving the rank insignia, IGP Thapa expressed his commitment to carrying out necessary reforms within the police force. He acknowledged that Nepal Police reflects various elements of society, both good and bad, and pledged to address these complexities during his tenure.

Thapa said he had always worked with integrity and would continue to do so while leading the organization. He assured that he would thoroughly evaluate the efficiency within the police force and play a neutral coordinating role in addressing challenges.

Home Secretary Duwadi expressed confidence in IGP Thapa’s leadership and his ability to tackle the emerging challenges posed by various criminal incidents. He also assured that the Ministry of Home Affairs would provide full support in maintaining peace and security throughout the country.

IGP Thapa began his police career as an Inspector on September 4, 1995, marking the start of his longstanding service in Nepal Police.
