MCC projects also halted in Nepal after USAID

KATHMANDU: Following the suspension of USAID projects, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a U.S. aid agency, has also faced setbacks.

The U.S. government sent a letter on February 14, stating that the implementation of MCC projects should not proceed at this time, according to the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday.

“The activities related to the projects being implemented under the compact signed between the Government of Nepal and the organization on September 14, 2017, which are financed by MCC funds, have been suspended as per the 90-day executive order issued by the U.S. President on January 20, 2025,” the ministry said.
