Wai Wai factory relocated to Nawalparasi

KATHMANDU: Business conglomerate Chaudhary Group has successfully relocated the first production facility of Nepal’s leading instant noodle brand, Wai Wai, to CG Industrial Park (CGIP) in Nawalparasi.

The historic factory, which had been operating for four decades in Bhaisepati, Lalitpur, faced challenges as the area gradually transformed from an industrial zone to a densely populated residential area.

These changes, combined with concerns about environmental and noise pollution, led the company to make the decision to relocate the production facility.

Pradeep Pudasaini, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Wai Wai, said the relocation process was carried out with mutual understanding and written consent between the labor management and stakeholders.

The company also ensured a special incentive package to facilitate a smooth transition for its workers, offering them the option to transfer to other Wai Wai facilities outside Kathmandu.

Originally established in 1984, the Wai Wai factory in Bhaisepati had served as one of the major production centers for instant noodles in Nepal. As the area became more urbanized, maintaining industrial activities became increasingly difficult, prompting the shift to a more suitable location in Nawalparasi.

Addressing concerns raised by local residents and the social sector about the environmental impact of the factory’s operations, the management took a responsible approach and committed to preserving the environmental balance. The relocation to a state-of-the-art facility at CGIP reflects the company’s dedication to maintaining sustainable practices.

With the new factory now operational, Chaudhary Group has invested heavily in upgrading the production system, ensuring that the company remains competitive both in the Nepali market and internationally. The company aims to increase production capacity, improve quality, and further strengthen the Wai Wai brand’s presence in the global market.

Wai Wai, one of Nepal’s most successful FMCG brands, looks to capitalize on the new facility to expand its reach and maintain its position as a leading player in the instant noodle industry.
