KATHMANDU: Bangladesh have beaten Nepal by five wickets in the ongoing ICC U-19 Women’s World Cup in Malaysia.
After losing the toss and being put to bat, Nepal was bowled out for just 52 runs in 18.2 overs in their opening match on Saturday.
Nepal’s opener Sana Pravin was the top scorer with 19 runs, while Simana KC added 10. None of the other batters managed to reach double figures, resulting in a low total for Nepal.
For Bangladesh, Janathan Maola took 2 wickets, while Anisa Sova, Foyomodi Choya, and Nishita Akhtar each claimed 1 wicket.
In reply, Bangladesh chased down the total with 40 balls to spare.
Depsite losing three quick wickets, Bangladesh won the game comfortably thanks to Shaida Islam and Sumaiya Akthar who scored 16 and 12 respectively.
Nepal will now play Scotland on Monday.
