Supreme Court issues interim order to halt removal of five Madhesh Provincial Assembly members

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order preventing the removal of five members of the Madhesh Provincial Assembly.

The move follows the Provincial Assembly Speaker Ramchandra Mandal’s decision on November 13 to dismiss the five lawmakers, four from JSP-Nepal (Manishkumar Suman, Sanjaykumar Yadav, Singhasan Sah Kalwar, Sharda Shankar Sah Kalbanar) and one from NUPA (Urmila Singh), for being absent in over ten assembly sessions.

A bench led by Justice Nityanand Pandey issued the order on Monday, directing both parties to present their arguments regarding the case. The interim order temporarily suspends the speaker’s dismissal decision until further hearings.
