CAN and Police ask public not to gather around TU Cricket Ground as NPL tickets sell out

KATHMANDU: Cricket Association of Nepal along with Nepal Police have requested the public not to crowd around the Tribhuvan University (TU) International Cricket Ground after all tickets for the opening day of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) were sold out.

Issuing a notice, police said they were informed that all tickets for Friday’s matches had been fully sold, and urged those without tickets to avoid gathering near the venue.

“People without tickets are requested not to crowd the area and to cooperate with security arrangements,” the notice stated.

Similaly, CAN secretary, Paras Khadka, in a video, urged all fans that didn’t have a ticket to stay home and watch it on the television.

“The world is watching us and we want to make sure everything is perfect. Those that don’t have a ticket, please don’t come and gather around the ground,” he said.

The second edition of the NPL officially kicks off today at the TU Cricket Ground, with the opening match scheduled at 4 pm between Kathmandu Gorkhas and defending champions Janakpur Bolts. This is also the first time a match at the TU ground will be played under floodlights.
