ILAM: The Pakistan Embassy in Kathmandu, in collaboration with the Nepal-Pakistan Youth Council (NPYC), distributed relief items to flood-affected families in Mangsebung and Phakphokthum Rural Municipalities of Ilam District.
Abrar H. Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan, accompanied by First Secretary Muhammad Haroon Rasheed and NPYC Convener Richuman Luitel, visited the affected communities and handed over relief goods at Gajurmukhi Dham, Mangsebung Rural Municipality, Ilam District.
The event was attended by Ms. Sunita Nepal, Chief District Officer; SP Ek Narayan Koirala, District Police Chief; the Chairman of Mangsebung Rural Municipality; and local residents. Ambassador Hashmi expressed heartfelt sympathies and solidarity with the affected families, reaffirming the strong bond of friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and Nepal.
He handed over the relief goods as a token of love from the people of Pakistan and praised the resilience of the local population and the efforts of the three-tier government in managing the disaster response.
On this occasion, Ambassador Hashmi also announced four scholarships for MBBS, BDS, and B. Pharmacy programs under PTAP, as well as fifty scholarships for higher secondary education through the Nepal-Pakistan Youth Council. These scholarships aim to support deserving students from flood-affected areas in Ilam District.
Earlier, in Biratnagar, Ambassador Hashmi met with Hon. Riwati Bhandhari, Minister of Internal Affairs and Law of Koshi Province. During the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed heartfelt condolences from the Government and people of Pakistan, particularly to those most impacted by the recent flash floods in the Koshi Province. He also briefed the Minister on the purpose of his solidarity visit and engagement with affected communities on the ground.
