Kathmandu Metropolitan City passes 15 proposals in 43rd executive meeting



KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) on Friday concluded its 43rd executive committee meeting, endorsing 15 proposals, including 14 departmental and one miscellaneous, under the chairmanship of Mayor Balen Shah.

The meeting approved three preliminary environmental assessment reports presented by the Environment Management Department. The approvals relate to the construction and operation of a commercial building at Ward No. 5 in Tangal, the Sherpa Mall at Ward No. 1 in Durbarmarg, and the Kumari Bank institutional building at Ward No. 1 in Naxal.

Similarly, the Administration Department’s proposal to provide grants of Rs 1 million to the Kalanki Land Revenue Office and Rs 1.5 million to the Dillibazar Land Revenue Office was endorsed. The meeting also discussed details related to leasing land for the Metropolitan Hospital.

Under the Social Development Department, the meeting passed two proposals: the appointment of a child welfare officer, and a preliminary agreement to draft the working procedure for establishing and operating the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Skills and Training Council.

The Health Department’s proposals to renew the agreement between KMC and the Nepal Ambulance Service and to deploy additional personnel in ten health promotion centers operating under the health insurance scheme were also approved. Each of these centers will now have a medical officer, a lab technician, and an office assistant.

The Law and Human Rights Department’s proposal to approve the National Assembly Hall Operation Directive, 2025, was passed, while the Information Technology Department’s proposal to arrange necessary staffing for the establishment of a software development and operations center was also endorsed.

Likewise, the Public Construction Department received approval to transfer remaining restoration work at the Hanuman Dhoka Palace and Dabali areas to other locations as required. The International Relations Secretariat’s proposal to nominate Ward No. 16 chairperson Rozina Shrestha to participate in the 45th CITINET Executive Committee meeting in Indonesia was also approved.

The meeting endorsed the Urban Planning Commission Secretariat’s proposal to appoint Suraj Shakya and Suman Pradhan as members of the Urban Planning Commission.

Under miscellaneous proposals, the metropolis decided to provide a grant of Rs 2.299 million each to 35 rural municipalities for the purchase of ambulances. The meeting also decided to increase the annual apron allowance for technical and other staff working under the Machinery and Equipment Division to Rs 8,000.

With the endorsement of these proposals, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s 43rd executive committee meeting came to a close.
