Over 16,000 students selected for KMC’s scholarship entrance exam

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has shortlisted 16,137 students to sit for the scholarship entrance examination for Grades 11 and 12 under the academic session 2025/26.

These students were selected from a total of 17,229 applications received from all 77 districts across Nepal.

A total of 1,092 applications were rejected due to missing documents such as citizenship or birth certificate, proof of studying in public schools, prior scholarship status in institutional schools, or lack of permanent residency proof within the Kathmandu Metropolitan area.

According to KMC’s Education Department, the selected students include 11,590 applicants for the Science stream, 4,164 for Management, 256 for Law, 95 for Education, and 32 for Humanities. Notifications have already been sent to the selected students via email and phone.

Selected candidates can download their admit cards from July 26 by visiting https://entrance.kathmandu.gov.np/ and clicking on the “Admit Card” option. The admit card will include details about the exam center, date, and time.

The scholarship entrance exam is scheduled to take place on July 29 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

It will be based on the Grade 10 curriculum, with 30 multiple-choice questions each from Mathematics, Science, and English, and 10 questions from General Knowledge, making a total of 100 questions.

To pass the exam, students must secure a minimum of 40 percent marks. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.

After the exam, scholarships will be awarded based on merit, enabling academically strong but financially disadvantaged students to pursue quality education in institutional schools of their choice within Kathmandu.
