Karnali declares public holiday today



KARNALI: The Karnali Province government has announced a public holiday today, which marks the first day of the month of Shawan in the Lunar Calendar.

The holiday is being observed in celebration of Shawan Sankranti and the Deuda festival.

Deuda festival is a traditional cultural celebration primarily observed in the far-western and mid-western regions of Nepal, including Karnali Province. It is especially popular among communities such as the Khas Arya, including Chhetris, Brahmins, and Dalits.
