Speaker holds talks with RSP to break parliamentary deadlock

KATHMANDU: In a bid to end the ongoing deadlock in the House of Representatives, Speaker Devraj Ghimire has initiated dialogue with the opposition Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

Ahead of Tuesday’s scheduled House session, Speaker Ghimire held discussions with RSP Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar. The meeting is aimed at forging a consensus to resume regular parliamentary proceedings.

According to the Speaker’s Secretariat, the conversation with Chief Whip Pariyar is ongoing and focused on finding a resolution acceptable to all sides.

The RSP has been obstructing parliamentary proceedings, demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and the formation of a parliamentary probe committee in connection with the ongoing visit visa scandal.
