KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) senior vice-chair Rabindra Mishra appeared before the Kathmandu District Court on Tuesday in connection with the Tinkune incident, which turned violent during a royalist demonstration on March 28.
His court appearance follows that of fellow RPP leader and general secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana, who had presented himself on Monday and was released on a bail of Rs 300,000.
Mishra’s remand hearing is scheduled for today. The court will decide whether he will be sent to custody pending trial or released under alternative conditions.
The case against Mishra was officially registered on May 25, charging him with offenses against the state, criminal disturbance, organized crime, and additional charges under the Integrated Penal Code.
The charges stem from the March 28 protest organized by royalist supporters, which turned violent, resulting in the deaths of two individuals.
Mishra is accused of inciting the violence through provocative remarks made during the demonstration.
Meanwhile, Durga Prasai, considered the main planner of the protest, has already been ordered into judicial custody by the court.
