Landslide keeps Kaligandaki Corridor Road blocked in Gulmi

GULMI: The Kaligandaki Corridor Road remains obstructed following a massive landslide in Baralba, located in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-6, Gulmi district.

The landslide, which occurred on Monday afternoon, brought down large rocks and debris, leading to a complete road blockade, authorities confirmed.

According to Kaligandaki Rural Municipality Chairperson Bed Bahadur Thapa, continuous falling debris is hampering efforts to reopen the road.

“Despite efforts to clear the landslide, recurring rockfall has made it difficult to resume traffic,” he said.

A police team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Dev Bahadur Bhujel from Bhurtung Police Post has been deployed to the site, as informed by Superintendent of Police Narayan Prasad Adhikari.

With no immediate prospect of reopening, authorities have advised travelers to use alternative routes via Parbat. The blockade has severely affected movement between Gulmi, Parbat, Baglung, and Pokhara, leaving many passengers stranded and causing significant travel disruption.
