NTA moves to form pricing committee for Smart Telecom’s assets

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has initiated the process of forming a pricing committee for Smart Telecom’s assets, which have remained dormant since the company was shut down two years ago.

Issuing a notice on Monday, the NTA called for applications to establish the pricing committee, following the automatic revocation of Smart Telecom’s license for basic telephone services in 2014.

The authority stated that the move aligns with Rule 13 of the Rules regarding Asset Management of. Telecommunications Service Providers with Non-Existent Licences, 2022.

According to the NTA, individuals who have earned an academic degree in Chartered Accountancy from a recognized educational institution and possess at least 10 years of auditing experience are eligible to apply for the committee.

Interested applicants are required to submit their applications within seven days, accompanied by the necessary documents.

Smart Telecom, once a major player in Nepal’s telecommunications sector, has remained non-operational since its license was deemed invalid.
