Newly appointed NPC Vice Chair, member take oath of office



KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Vice Chairperson of the National Planning Commission (NPC) Dr Prakash Kumar Shrestha and member Prof Suniti Shrestha (Hada) have taken the oath of office and secrecy.

At a program held on Tuesday, Vice Chairperson Shrestha took the oath before Prime Minister and NPC Chairperson Sushila Karki. Following this, member Prof Hada was sworn in by Vice Chairperson Shrestha in the presence of Prime Minister Karki.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by NPC member and Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal, Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office Raj Kumar Shrestha, NPC Secretary Rabi Lal Panth, and other senior government officials.

After administering the oath, Prime Minister Karki congratulated the newly appointed vice chair and member and extended her best wishes for a successful tenure. She instructed them to closely study the country’s current situation and formulate plans in line with the aspirations of the Gen-Z youth.

“We have entrusted you with this responsibility as experts,” Prime Minister Karki said. “You are well aware of the country’s present condition. We must take steps based on a clear understanding of this situation. National plans and programs should be formulated in line with the spirit of the youth-led movement for change.”

She further stressed the need to thoroughly analyze the prevailing circumstances and work towards restoring the country’s credibility through effective planning and implementation.

The Cabinet meeting held on Monday had decided to appoint Dr Shrestha as Vice Chairperson and Prof Hada as a member of the National Planning Commission.
